Table ovale à pieds en T, chêne massif, travail d'étudiant en ébénisterie, France, années 1990

Maison Lecan presents this oval solid oak table, student cabinetmaking work, France, 1990s. This type of piece, produced within a training context, outside commercial edition, carries a singularity that serial furniture cannot replicate: a straightforward constructive gesture, a considered scale, an immediate relationship to the material.

The solid oak oval top, with a strongly marked grain, sits on two square-section T-shaped legs. The construction is frank, without ornament. The bevelled edge of the top softens the whole without betraying its rigour. The matt varnish finish preserves the reading of the wood, giving it a dense, quiet presence.

The golden tone of the oak, the solidity of the whole and the format, neither too large nor too small, make it a versatile dining or work table, equally at home in a contemporary interior or a more layered space.
