Farmhouse table, antique bread kneading trough in solid oak, France, circa 1920

Maison Lecan presents this solid oak farmhouse table, antique bread kneading trough, France, circa 1920. Originally designed for kneading bread, a deep compartment concealed beneath the removable top, this piece has travelled more than a century before being reimagined as a dining table. The conversion is natural: the height, the format and the solidity of the construction lend themselves to it perfectly.

The removable solid oak top, with its marked grain and deep patina, rests on four slightly tapered square-section spindle legs connected by a low stretcher. Frank construction, no ornament. Restored in our workshop, satin varnish finish. 63 cm underframe clearance.

A piece with a readable history, solid and direct.
