Maison Lecan presents this transparent acrylic side table from the 1970s, in the spirit of the Italian and French plastic design of a period fascinated by new materials and transparency.

The top is formed from a thick sheet of thermoformed acrylic in a waterfall shape — where the material folds into a U to create both an upper and a lower surface simultaneously. The edges reveal a violet tint characteristic of the acrylic of this era, which captures and diffuses light differently depending on the angle. The transparency of the material gives the piece a total visual lightness, almost immaterial.

The four-branch brushed chrome star base is restrained and precise — anchoring the table to the ground without taking away its lightness. The piece is in good overall condition, with the light marks of use normal for a piece of this age.

A side table with a resolutely seventies character, equally at home in a confident vintage interior or a contemporary space in search of an unexpected counterpoint.
